Solar Panel Installation Purley

In most cases, homeowners in Purley and across Greater London do not need planning permission for installing solar panels. Solar PV systems are generally considered permitted development, so long as the panels are fitted flat to the roof and do not stick out too far.

However, if your property is a listed building or located in a conservation area, there may be restrictions. Our team at PSC Electrical will guide you through the process and check if any special permission is required, giving you peace of mind before your solar journey begins.

For a standard solar panel installation in Purley, the process usually takes between 1 to 3 days depending on the size of the solar system and the type of roof. Our team handles everything from scaffolding to wiring, so your installation process is as smooth as possible.

Once your solar panels are installed, we carry out all the necessary checks to ensure the system is working efficiently. We pride ourselves on reliable services and ongoing support, making sure you get maximum benefits from solar power from day one.

On average, installing solar panels in Greater London allows homeowners to recover their investment within 8 to 12 years. The payback period depends on your energy usage, the efficiency of the solar cells, and whether you add battery storage to save even more on energy bills.

With the current grants and Smart Export Guarantee in place, you can generate electricity, reduce energy costs, and enjoy a return on your solar technology sooner. Over the years, the system can transform your energy bills and significantly lower your carbon footprint.

Yes, once your solar PV system is connected to the grid, you can export unused electricity through the Smart Export Guarantee. This scheme replaces the old feed in tariff and ensures you are paid by energy suppliers for any surplus power sent back.

This advantage makes installing solar panels even more cost-effective. By utilising the sun and producing usable energy for your home, you not only reduce your dependence on fossil fuels but also gain financial benefits from every unit of excess power exported.

High-quality solar panels in Purley are designed to last 25 to 30 years, with many systems continuing to generate electricity even beyond that. Our installation services include manufacturer warranties, often up to 25 years for performance, so you can rely on consistent output.

PSC Electrical provides ongoing support, covering both solar PV panels and inverters. With proper maintenance, such as keeping debris off the panels, your solar system will keep delivering efficient, greener energy for decades to come.

Battery storage is not essential, but it’s a smart investment for homeowners who want to use more of the electricity their panels generate. By adding a battery, you can store solar power during sunny days and use it at night, reducing reliance on the grid.

The cost of a quality battery system in Purley typically ranges from £3,000 to £8,000, depending on capacity. While this is an extra cost upfront, it helps decrease your energy bills further, makes your home less affected by grid changes, and supports a greener future.
